You could be an everyday hero with the equipment you need in an emergency!

Coastguard is an emergency service that operates 24/7, 365 days a year.  It is a registered charity that relies largely on the generosity of individual donors, corporate sponsors, trusts and community groups to enable it to continue its lifesaving work.

Here are a few interesting facts about Coastguard:

  • It is manned by approximately 2000 volunteers
  • Volunteer units are based at 63 locations around New Zealand’s major lakes, rivers and coastline
  • It has two Air Patrols, two communication centres, and 59 units with rescue vessels
  • Last year Coastguard volunteers rescued over 8,600 people and brought them home safely to their families
  • Over 83,592 volunteer hours of training took place last year
  • Volunteers dedicated a total of 291,402 hours of their personal time to safeguarding communities around Aotearoa

Why do they do all this?

Because they know that life is precious and what they do makes a difference.

The Vocal Minority gives people a voice to change policy by running polls, petitions, and surveys to help you make a difference to the issues you care about the most.
